in Wales The National Curriculum in England and in Wales Geography programme of study At Key stage 2, pupils learn to ask geographical questions, to undertake investigations inside and outside the classroom, and to use a range of skills and resources, including maps and atlases. In particular, this resource supports work in using atlases, globes, maps, and plans, and drawing plans and maps at a variety of scales. At Key stage 3, pupils learn to appreciate
the significance of political, economic, social, and environmental factors
affecting geographical issues, and learn to develop their own views about
contemporary issues. In particular, they extend their experience of maps
and globes, of drawing maps and plans, and of collecting,

map reading skills; use thematic and specialist maps.
