Jamaica is an island in the Caribbean Sea, the third largest of the Greater Antilles island chain. It is 230 km long, and 80km wide at its widest point.

A mountain range runs across the island from east to west and takes up a third of the land area. The land is greener and more fertile to the north, where rainfall is higher.
