Street kid stories

In the street

"I am what I am, I'm just like other people but people's attitudes, their way of thinking, their characters, are all different.

"Look at them – how little and how cheerful they are, most of all the one I'm holding, he's three years old, they all live with a Koranic teacher who teaches them to read the Koran and how to beg.

"They're all tempted by money, and even if they've got something in their heads they've got no ambition.

"One thing's clear, in order to educate a child or a teenager, first the parents need to be educated so that they'll give their children an education. If the parents haven't managed to get a good education what can you say to the children?

"There are a lot of parents who don't have enough to feed them or keep them but they still carry on having children, even at sixty-five years old."
