Timbuktu!
Think about the pictures, sounds and words you have just been shown:                  Look back if you need to

poem! What does the poem tell us? Does it say more about the writer and the time he was writing (over 125 years ago!) than about the place?

photo! What does the photograph tell you about the place? Is it hot or cold, new or old? Describe it.

map!Can you guess anything from the map about the sort of country Timbuktu is in?

Timbuktu is a place many people have heard of, but few know anything about. It is famous for being mysterious! There is not even any agreement about how to spell it, and it appears in many different forms – Timbucktu, Tombouctou and Timbuctoo are just some. Think about where you live, about what sort of pictures and poems it might inspire. What does your home look like on a map? Is it very different to Timbuktu?
