Greenwich
meridian 16p 1984
The red line shows the 0° line on a satellite image. You
can see the line crossing Spain and the Sahara desert. But the
UK, France and Ghana are hidden under the clouds. This stamp was
printed for the centenary of the world-wide agreement that this
line should be the O° line.
Greenwich
meridian 28p 1984
The red line runs across Greenwich Park and beside the Greenwich
Observatory, then meets the River Thames. This is why the Millennium
Dome is built at Greenwich, though this postage stamp, from 1984,
was printed before the Dome was planned.
