Task 1

Use figures 1 - 9 to write a campaigning leaflet on behalf of an environmental group to persuade the British public that laws are needed to stop imports of tropical timber from forests that are not well-managed. Use Ghana’s tropical forests as an example. Include in your article:

• the value of the forests for wildlife

• the value of the forests for local people

• the main threat to the forests

• the annual rate of tropical rainforest loss in Ghana

• what this forest loss has to do with people in the UK.
