| When you have finished the
research for your presentation, you should have learned a lot more besides the geography
of Ghana. Has your image
(perception) of tropical West Africa changed? Look back at the words you used in the Sights and Sounds
activity to describe
Ghana. Would you use the same words now?
Look at how other people portray Africa on
the television, in adverts, in the newspapers. What images of Africa are the words and
pictures giving you? Think about these images. Can you think of reasons why people might
want you to have a particular image of Africa?
Perceptions of places are as much about
peoples' attitudes as they are about the places themselves. Look back at the work you did
for your presentation. Has your presentation been shaped by your own attitudes towards
tropical Africa?
