Role Play - A traditional
crafts firm Back
to role play
Getting hold of all the
information you need to give a presentation can be a difficult job.
This sheet is designed to get you started.
You work for a craft firm,
and your job is to convince people that Ghanaian crafts are worth buying.
You'll need to explain how unusual and attractive the items are, what
sort of variety is available, and explain at least a little bit about
how things are made. The most important resource for you will be the On the Line virtual visit to Ghana, which includes a drum-making photostory.
You will find lots of interesting and useful information in other places:
look at the resources page to get started.
Introduction
Read through the information
you have and find three good reasons why people might want to buy
traditional crafts from Ghana. This might be because you can buy
special things in Ghana, which are not made in other places. Or
because the things people make are interesting or have a special
story behind them. Or because the people in Ghana need to make money.
Or anything that you think might make people want to buy traditional
crafts from Ghana.

The
right story and the perfect picture
Read
through the information you have and find an interesting story which
will make people interested in crafts from Ghana. It could be about
a particular craft, or a group which makes or uses traditional crafts,
or a particular craftsperson. Write it out in your own words.
When you have written
the story, you need a picture to go with it. Think of what the
perfect picture to encourage people to buy crafts from Ghana would
be, and then either draw it, or find a picture on this Web site
which seems perfect.
