About Cool Planet
Cool Planet is primarily intended for teachers in
England, Scotland and Wales and their students. It aims to bring
the global dimension to the classroom, using the concept of Global
Citizenship. The site is edited by our Development
Education teams in England, Scotland and Wales. Experienced
teachers are involved in all our work, so you can be confident in
its quality.
The Development Education team is just part of Oxfam’s
global effort to promote education. We believe that education is
a fundamental right. One of our key goals is to create a world where
every person is skilled. The
education programme works with partners and alliances to implement,
advocate and campaign for good quality gender-equitable education
and to work towards ensuring adequate financing for this education
as well as the development of good quality national and sub-national
level planning and implementation.
We also campaign and lobby for the achievement of
the two education Millennium Development Goals (MDGs): eliminate
gender disparity in education by 2005 and education for all by 2015.
