Lesson plan: Teddy's in trouble
From the Foundation Stage classroom activities
on Global Citizenship themes online resource
Age group: 3 - 5
Aims:
For pupils to start to participate, develop a sense of fair play
and a willingness to admit to and learn from mistakes, beginning
to identify unfairness and take appropriate action.
What to do:
You will need a glove-puppet or toy.
Using the glove-puppet or class toy as the focus, talk about personal
incidents that occur in school, and ask the pupils to suggest what
to do. For example, Teddy can't remember what to do if he or she
wants to go to the toilet - can anyone help? (Ask the teacher.)
Teddy was fighting in the playground today - can anyone remind help
him or her what to do? (Tell a teacher or peer mediator about problems
rather than fight.)
Planned outcome:
For pupils to understand that they can make mistakes and forget
things, but that they can learn from these mistakes and that others
around them can help.
