  • Banana Link - this non-profit company provides a whole bunch of banana-related resources dedicated to improving the lot of banana exporting communities.

  • BBC Education - gateway to the BBC's educational resources for teachers and children.
  • Book Aid - Book Aid International works with partner organisations in the South to improve access to books and information for the most disadvantaged. Includes resources for schools.

  • British Council - exists to build lasting relationships between the UK and other countries, focussing on the educational and cultural.

  • British Library's Learning Zone - includes '21st Century Citizen' - a web resource to support Citizenship for the 11-16s.

  • C8 - Brings young people from across the world together to put their agenda for action to the G8 leaders.

  • CAFOD – Catholic Fund for Overseas Development’s School Zone - includes information, worksheets and quizzes for primary and secondary schools.

  • Centre for Citizenship Studies in Education - the University of Leicester's CCSE develops inclusive and democratic approaches to education. Site includes resources and activities, a newsletter and information about Citizenship distance learning.

  • Christian Aid - Learn zone - for teachers and youth leaders, includes assembly ideas, classroom materials and other resources.

  • Citizenship Foundation - provides support for Citizenship in primary schools.

  • Climate Choices - Children's Voices - website from Practical Action, exploring the impact of our food choices on communities in developing countries. Aimed at teachers of years 5 and 6, the site features case studies, worksheets, videos, power point presentations, a carbon calculator and games.
  • DfES Citizenship - the DfES Citizenship website with information and resources for teachers, pupils, parents and governors.

  • DFID Global Schools Partnership - DFID Global Schools Partnerships promotes links between schools in the UK and schools in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.

  • Dubble - provides Fair Trade chocolate information for children and teachers.

  • Education for Sustainability - information about the Education for Sustainability Programme at London South Bank University

  • Education in Africa - Teachers TV site with programmes, interviews and resources for teaching about the important issues affecting education in Africa.
  • Educational Resources - the educational resources centre for students, teachers and parents. Provides links to carefully selected education related material on the Internet.

  • Eduweb - an American site offering interactive activities and stories to promote learning on slavery, the Amazon and endangered species.

  • Food and Farming - a project exploring issues surrounding farming and food production.

  • Friends of the Earth - Friends of the Earth's learning site provides information and resources for educators and students about environmental issues.

  • Geographical Association - furthers the study and teaching of geography.

  • Giving Nation - Giving Nation is a countrywide campaign in the UK, aiming to demonstrate to young people how to change the world by giving. Includes lesson plans.

  • Global Dimension - a resource centre for teachers. Includes information on the Global Citizenship curricula and a searchable database of teaching resources (initiative supported by the Department for International Development).

  • Global Dimension to Citizenship - gives background information to the global dimension in citizenship education, plus teaching ideas and case studies - from the Global Citizenship Consortium of the Development Education Association.

  • Global Express - the development education resource on hot topics in the news.

  • Global Eye - Worldaware’s site to promote understanding of development issues, for primary and secondary schools.

  • Global Gang - Christian Aid's site for young people, allows them to explore global issues on their own. Includes a section for teachers.
  • Global Island - An online dilemma and democracy game for young people, developed by the Danish Association for International Co-operation.

  • Global Learning On-Line - provides activities and information to support teaching about global issues.

  • Hertfordshire Grid for Learning - Hertfordshire Grid for Learning Provides news, resources for national curriculum subjects and learning programmes, School Admin information and links to Hertfordshire school web sites.

  • Human Rights Education Associates - a learning centre and resources from this international non-governmental organisation.

  • Hunger Banquet - Hunger Banquet is Oxfam America’s youth programme website, containing information and activities around food shortages and how groups are taking action to find solutions.
  • Institute for Citizenship - supports Citizenship in primary schools.

  • J8: Change the World - curriculum-linked case studies, information and activities about the G8 for teachers and young people aged 13-16. Includes an international competition (running until March 2006) for young people to take part in a J8 Summit, debating topical global issues.

  • Learn.co.uk - offers teaching resources based on the vast Guardian archive.

  • Luton Lifelong Learning Grid – the Luton Lifelong Learning Grid opens up a world of learning, support information and materials for all learners from the early years to adult education.

  • Mediation-EU.net - funded by the Daphne-EU programme, this international project on mediation in schools aims to combat violence against children, young people and women. The site contains information and resources relevant to conflict resolution and peer mediation in schools.

  • Music for Change - an arts organisation that aims to promote awareness, understanding and respect for cultural diversity through music in order to achieve beneficial change. There are teaching resources for early years, primary, secondary, special needs and INSETs.

  • National Curriculum Online - links every National Curriculum programme of study requirement to resources on the Curriculum Online.

  • On The Line - a partnership between Oxfam GB, WWF-UK, and Channel 4 using the dawn of the new millennium as an opportunity for learning between North and South.

  • Operation: Climate Control - a free interactive game designed to educate pupils about climate change. Funded by Defra, the activities are ideal Key Stage 4 students.
  • Permaculture Association of Britain - provides training, networking and research on permaculture.
  • Practical Action - case-studies and activities exploring the role of technology in poverty alleviation.
  • Save the Children's education pages - encourages young people to think about rights.
  • Schools Councils UK - training and support for school and class councils.

  • SchoolSource.info - a one-stop, searchable web site of education links, Schoolsource.info is designed as an area of the Internet for Key Stage 2 teachers in the UK to share web site addresses.

  • Share the World - Share the World is a resource for primary teachers, providing lesson plans and assembly ideas to help teach kindness and compassion to animals. Share the World has been promoted in many countries world-wide and a free hard copy of the pack including a video can be ordered from the Web site.

  • Surfers Against Sewage – education zone from anti 'pump and dump' ecological campaigners, linked to citizenship, for 11-16 year olds.

  • Teachernet’s Citizenship pages - Teachernet’s Citizenship pages, including resources and whole school issues.

  • Tire Tracks Education Program - This new online global education resource will document a two year, 50,000 mile overland journey from Casablanca to Cape Town. It will report back on the sights, sounds and stories of 35 African countries in an effort to explore and understand the real Africa.
  • Topmarks - searchable site to help with homework, GCSE and A Level revision and school studies. Find thousands of educational resources for teachers, pupils and parents.

  • The UN Works - The UN Works website puts a human face on serious issues(Business, Children, Development, Education, Emergencies, Environment,Health, HIV/AIDS, Human Rights Labour, Peace and Women) by telling stories about real people.
    These stories are filled with resource links for teachers and students who want to learn more about the issues and get involved.
  • Universal Declaration of Human Rights - from the Roosevelt Institute (USA), created to celebrate 50 years of the declaration. Background, history and ideas for action.
  • Virtual Classroom - a project of the Islamic Society of Britain, aimed at helping pupils learn about Islam in a fun and exciting way.

  • World Bank's Development Education Programme - includes sustainable development learning resources.

  • Young Cooperatives - offers 13-18 year olds a practical introduction to forming a cooperative, through in-school training and certification in socially responsible enterprise.
