Classroom activities

  • Climate Chaos - A week of activities designed to explore both the causes and effects of climate change. The impact of climate change on the world's poorest people is covered in detail. Pupils can also examine their own use of fossils fuels and what they might do to reduce it.
  • Bring Bring - Lesson plans and class activities around recycling mobile phones.

On The Line - this joint project, founded by Oxfam, Channel 4 and WWF-UK, explores the countires along the zero degree meridian line. Includes features from WWF on oceans, deserts and rain forests with related quizzes.

Drought, nomads and the price of peanuts - secondary activities looking at links between land use, trade and poverty. Offers one example of difficulties brought about by a modern agricultural model in circumstances which are ecologically fragile.

Ghana's tropical rainforests what does their future have to do with us? - Secondary activities looking at the human impact on tropical rainforests.

Exploring feelings - poetry activities, based on the lives of swallows, for primary school children. To encourage exploration of feelings about the natural world and how this is being affected by human action.

Logging activities - understand deforestation by playing our role-play game, for primary school children.

Climate Choices - Children's Voices - a teachers' website from Practical Action, exploring the link between our food choices and climate change.
