The first Oxfam bookshop opened in 1987 and we've come a long way since then! Your book donations are key to helping us raise the £1.7 million we make in donated book sales each month.
We sell a brilliant selection of donated books; including fiction and crime, art and history, children's, academic texts, cookery and travel to name a few. We have more than 45,000 books listed on the Oxfam Online Shop, 650 of our shops sell books and we also have more than 150 dedicated bookshops across the UK.
If you've finished the latest bestseller, have some books you'll never read again or it's just time for a clear out, you can donate books directly to our shops during opening hours or pop them into one of 300 book donation banks in Sainsbury's car parks. Visit your local shop to donate, buy a favourite read or drop in for a chat about volunteering.
Unsold books can also generate cash. Most go to our Book Barn where they're then sold on through other Oxfam shops or on eBay, Amazon or online auction. If they don't sell there, we'll send them to be recycled into boxes and other paper products.
