After 30 years of conflict, many communities have lost everything. Infrastructure has been destroyed, farms neglected, livelihoods lost and thousands of people displaced. It has also left women as the main earners in 25 per cent of households.
Our long experience of working with partners in the region has paved the way for a better future for 67 villages in the north of the island. Your donation will enable us to continue to restore water supplies, repair roads and rebuild even more communities. It will also enable us to provide agricultural training to improve women's economic prospects and ultimately enhance their role in society.

After the end of the hostilities, Sukitha joined a diary co-operative supported by Oxfam. She worked collecting milk from local farmers. She was also trained in making milk-based products such as toffee and ice cream.
If we can increase the production of milk-based products we can increase the income of the co-operative, and it can grow and accept more members. People know that there are many advantages of being a member of the co-operative. I now have a regular salary and am able to cover my family's needs.
Your donation will help us continue to restore water supplies, repair roads and rebuild even more communities.
