This Committee consists of 24 Governors from Board of Governors.
As with the Executive Board, eight of these Governors represent
individual countries, and the remainder represent groups of
countries. The Committee meets twice a year to advise the
IMF on how the international financial system is working.
It is through this Committee that Gordon Brown, the UK’s
Chancellor of the Exchequer, has tried to persuade the IMF
to cancel some of the debts of the poorest nations.
