The Olympic games feature men and women from around the world who have become the best at their sport and succeeded, often against the odds. 

This pack features heroes and heroines who have overcome great obstacles to make the world fairer. It uses these inspiring people to explore the Olympic values of respect, excellence and friendship and the Paralympic values of courage, determination, inspiration and equality. 

We hope these stories and accompanying activities will inspire pupils to undertake their own sporting or non-sporting 'heroic' actions and gain the skills they need to make the world fairer for all.
