Summer Week 2008: What is the G8?

A week of activities exploring the G8 and its role in the world. Climaxing with a creative activity based on the colourful Japanese festival of Tanabata

Once a year, the leaders of the world's eight most rich and powerful countries - the G8 - come together to talk about global poverty. This week of activities explores what the G8 is, how it works and the issues surrounding the decisions its makes.

The first day of the meeting falls during the Japanese Tanabata festival where people tie written wishes to bamboo trees. Use this as inspiration for a colourful and challenging finale.
