Farmers Feeding our World: A fairer and more sustainable future

680x150

Help your class make the link between the food we consume and the people who produce it with the help of an Oxfam Sparks Action workshop- in conjunction with The Co-operative's Green Schools Revolution.

Particularly suitable for Geography, Citizenship and PSHE curriculums in England and ESDGC framework in Wales, 'Farmers Feeding Our World explores the role that smallholder farmers and co-operatives can play in feeding the world fairly and sustainably.

  • Where does our food come from? Who grows it and where?
  • What problems do smallholder farmers face and what can we do to help?
  • How do Oxfam and The Co-operative work to improve the lives of smallholder farmers in developing countries?

Encourage pupils to be active global citizens, acting to promote a more sustainable food system and a fairer future for smallholder farmers.

Choose between:

  • A one off workshop introducing the issue.
  • A series of three workshops introducing the issue, leading into students planning and taking an action of their own in response.
  • Hosting your own Farmers Feeding Our World Event for primary feeder schools.
