A flood of support for Festival Shops

22nd Jun 2012

The Oxfam Fashion team set sail for the Isle of Wight, to kick off this year's festival season.  The last of the summer sun cleared a path across the channel and onto one of the most eagerly anticipated music events of the year. The weekend was set to be a sunny one, until the thick black clouds dominated the sky, unleashing a torrent of rain and wind. A three hour journey slowly turned into a 13 hour wait. After hours of struggle battling the unpredictable forces of nature we were home and dry, ready to kick start our festival season for Oxfam Fashion.

As we touched down on Tuesday the fashion team joined forces with the dedicated group of Festival Shop volunteers to construct this year's shop.  The Shop team have handpicked all of the cutting edge garment s on offer throughout the weekend.

As the rain continued to pour, the shop was overwhelmed with music fans eager to buy the latest wellington boots from the Oxfam Shop. Throughout the day happy campers began to flood both shops, buying sheepskin jackets and the bare essentials for festival life.

We were quick to seek sanctuary backstage away from the mud, rain and gale force winds and on the way we bumped into Kaya Scodelario from hit show Skins, whilst on her way to visit the Oxfam Shop. It was good to see the festival in full swing despite a troublesome weekend.
