Have your say about Rakhi Day

You may have heard about (or even bought) the special Make Poverty History white band that we've made for this year's Rakhi Day. It's a brand new scheme, and we're really chuffed that celebrities like Raghav and Talvin Singh and Veronica have bought the bands and been really supportive what we're doing. What we'd love to know is what you think of the whole thing. Have you bought one of the bands? Has it made you think more about getting involved with Oxfam? Have your say and post your comments on this blog!

it's a really cool idea and the bands look really nice. i hadn't really thought about oxfam before now, so it's good that they're trying to do something with new people, if that makes sense?

Do it every year, it makes perfect sense.

I think it was a great idea but it wasn't promoted as well as it could have been - I would say that though because by the time I found out about it i.e today, you had sold out! Hindu's like me would still be proud to wear one even though Raksha Bandhan is over for this year..

It was/is a stonking great idea to have had these very sexy Make Poverty History/Rakhi wristbands. Of course it took me a while to get hold of one as they sold out very quickly (and - as usual - I was doing it at the last minute) but the funky Drury Lane Oxfam shop in Covent Garden helped me out - Thanks Guys!
Please make many more next year!

From the crew @ The Drury Lane Oxfam shop:

You’re most welcome! We are always very happy to help. And you’re right – we will stock heaps more for next years Raksha Bandhan.
And then to everyone who came to the shop in Covent Garden to pick up a wristband (& some cool clothes) – please don’t be a stranger – you know where we are now – keep popping in for more great bargains!

I always keep all my rakhis on until they fall of by themselves, or the next year when my sisters tie them on again... 8 of them! and proudly one of them is the white band..

Simply Genius! So kool and slightly unique in the way it has it tied to your wrist. I really badly want one, but I don't know where to get them from becuase I'm told that they're sold out. A HUGE shame that I can't have one :( I really badly wanted one :( I rode my bike to the high street just to get one. But they were sold out :( - Zak (duhprest@gmail.com)
