Two great fundraising gigs in Birmingham
The best of Birmingham's unsigned acts have teamed up to support the Metro's Christmas appeal for Oxfam. Following a year of unprecedented emergencies, the appeal has been set up for a general emergency fund. Austin Lloyd of Oxfam @ Custard Factory explains that, despite an amazing level of generosity from the general public, the year "has been dominated by a few high profile appeals [and] some emergencies have been overlooked".
The gig tonight is being held at TC'S at 8.00 pm and is £2 on the door. Featuring punk rock band Fiori (pictured above), indie newcomers Daniel Marx and great poet Jim Fantastic.
And don't worry if you miss tonight's gig because there's one next Wednesday, 14 December, too. The line up includes Insinuendo, Dog Food, Silver Dollar DJs Lee Van Cleef and Rasper and soulful, country funk band Katlama (above), who have been supporting Oxfam throughout 2005. As lead singer Karen says, "we're committed to helping overcome poverty and suffering". The gig costs £3, and starts at 8.00 pm at the Rainbow.
With such an eclectic mix of new and unsigned bands these gigs are not to be missed! For more information call the Custard Factory Oxfam shop on 0121 7667521. Click here for more about Oxfam's emergency relief work.
