Shaista Aziz
"There are no streetlights in Beirut as they have been switched off to conserve energy, which means it's very difficult to see anything. The sky was jet black and I couldn't see a thing even though the sounds of the aircraft became louder."
The situation in the Middle East continues to deteriorate rapidly. Hundreds have already died and an estimated 500,000 people have had to flee their homes and have been forced to shelter in buildings with little or no help to meet their basic needs.

Shaista Aziz is a member of Oxfam's Rapid Response Team, assessing the situation in Lebanon. Shaista is blogging directly from Beirut, offering us a personal perspective on the situation as the war between Israel and Hezbollah continues.
