Follow the shenanigans of Fairtrade Woman on MySpace

Our good friend Becks, from the Make Trade Fair team, has decided to transform herself into the magnificent Fairtrade Woman for the entirety of Fairtrade Fortnight.

For two whole weeks she will eat nothing but Fairtrade food– doesn’t sound that difficult, but when you look at her options you may think otherwise.

To show your support for Becks, and follow her Fairtrade experience, add Fairtrade Woman as your friend on MySpace >>

I've made a FT choclate cake, but couldn't live on Fairtrade only, why doesn't she buy local produce also ?

If everyone did this everyday the shelves would be empty , and all goods that were not fair-traded certified would stay on the shelves unsold.I boycotted SA goods many years ago. perhaps the FT man and becks should do this for more than a fortnight ?

good point above. fair trade is a great alternative to unfairly traded products from abroad but the biggest impact would be to eat fairtrade where appropriate (can't live without fairtrade bananas) but then to make an extra effort to eat good quality, local, seasonal food from good independent retailers. stick one to the supermarkets who make food disporoportinately cheap at any cost to the enviroment and to producers all over the world (including here in the uk).
