Win Glastonbury tickets!
If, like many, you are still looking for that Golden ticket to this year’s Glasto, this may be your lucky day! Oxfam’s Music shops are raffling off a pair of tickets to what is set to be the hottest music event of the summer. Oxfam will be there - enjoying the music and the mud - and campaigning against climate change.
If you want to buy a raffle ticket you can visit your nearest Oxfam Music shop or call the Glasgow shop on 0141 3347669 or the Southampton shop on 02380 236581. Both can take credit card payments over the phone. Hurry, entry closes on 31 May, that’s tomorrow, so get in while you can! Tickets are £2 each and the lucky winner gets both tickets. The winner will be announced on 6 June.
Good luck! And, if you don’t win, remember for next year the best way to get into the hottest summer festivals is to campaign with Oxfam.

Rich countries should pay more for climate change
Children of the Miskitos tribe playing near a canoe in the Coco river, Nicaragua. Climate change is having a devastating effect on the Miskito Indians who live in wooden huts in Nicaragua's western territories.
Rich countries like the UK should bear more of the cost of climate change, according to a new Oxfam report. G8 countries owe around 80 per cent of the $50 billion needed each year by poor countries, so they can adapt to the harmful effects of climate change. The report ranks countries based on their responsibility for carbon emissions from 1992 up to 2003, and on their ability to pay (according to the UN Human Development Index). According to this, the US should pay 44 per cent of developing countries' adaptation costs. Japan should pay for 13 per cent, Germany 7 per cent and the UK 5 per cent. Developing countries cannot be expected to foot the bill for the impact of rich countries' emissions. Find out more >>

G8: go see the World Can't Wait photo exhibition
If you're in London over the next month or so, go see the World Can't Wait photo exhibition. It has more than 50 stunning images and video clips which depict the reality of life without access to clean water, health care or a basic education. It's been put together to remind world leaders to fulfil their promises and make poverty history, ahead of the G8 summit in Germany in June.
The images will be displayed on giant cubes outside the National Theatre on London’s South Bank, from Saturday 19 May to Monday 18 June. It looks really inspiring - see some of the pics in our online gallery.

Get Gordon Brown to talk about international development

A little something to do today … International development is one of the four options to talk about on Gordon Brown’s website this week. Every week his ‘you decide’ feature allows people to vote on the subject they most want him to discuss. Get voting now to help get the subject on Brown’s agenda. Spread the word- we want to hear what our future Prime Minister has to say.

Hooked on Facebook? Love MySpace? Use your skills to change the world!
Oxfam is looking for someone who knows their Facebook from their Flickr (and their YouTube from their Google Video) to start a short term internship.
We need a volunteer who knows how to design a MySpace profile, tag videos in YouTube, and share pics in Flickr - but most importantly we need someone who can see the potential of sites like these to raise awareness about Oxfam's work.
This is a great opportunity to get experience of working for a development organisation like Oxfam, whilst using all the skills you may have gained outside work - like promoting bands through MySpace, or filming your mates in YouTube.
It's a flexible volunteer internship which could last from three to nine months, and could be three or four days a week - it's up to you. You'll be researching Oxfam's current presence on these sites, and supporting new activities too.
The deadline for applications is Monday 28 May (it's been extended from 14 May).

Put pressure on the G8
It's that time of year when the big leaders meet at the G8 summit - and here's how you can get involved.
When the G8 leaders met in 2005 they made some big promises about ending poverty. Some were kept, and these have made a real difference to millions of people. Unfortunately many of the promises weren't kept. The G8 will be meeting again between 6-8 June this year. We need leaders to keep turning their promises into reality, because if momentum is lost, so are millions of lives. Three simple things you can do:
You can help by taking the simple actions below and by passing these on to people you know. 1. Send a message to Tony Blair and German Chancellor Angela Merkel (current chair of the G8). Let them know that the world can't wait for an end to poverty. 2. Come to London for the G8 rally on 2 June, and bring as many people as you can. 3. Join our new MySpace page, The G8 Wait. On there you can take a virtual seat at the table to wait for Tony Blair to return home and tell us what went on at the G8. Find out more >>

Starbucks agrees to sign a deal with Ethiopia
Thanks to pressure from people like you, Starbucks and the Ethiopian government have agreed to sign a deal that recognises the importance and integrity of Ethiopia's specialty coffee names - Harar, Sidamo and Yirgacheffe.
We think this shows that campaigning, and putting pressure on big multinationals, really works. As Phil Bloomer, our director of campaigns and policy here at Oxfam, says: "This action by Starbucks could represent a huge step towards a real positive change for the 15 million Ethiopians who depend on coffee for their livelihood." And that sounds like really good news to us.
In seven months, more than 93,000 people worldwide have joined Oxfam in calling on Starbucks to sign this agreement – including over 5,000 of you on the Take Action Against Starbucks MySpace.
So we just wanted to say a huge thank you. It's not over yet, though – we hope you’ll join us to wait for the final agreement to be signed. We’ll examine the details to make sure it offers the best possible deal for Ethiopia's coffee producers.

Enter Shoot Nations’ worldwide photography competition and you could win an Olympus Digital SLR camera plus the chance to have your photographs showcased at the United Nations. The contest is open to anyone under the age of 24 and opens in June. A panel of professional photographers will choose their top 48 shots, which will be exhibited in the auditorium of the UN’s New York headquarters on International Youth Day on 12 August. The exhibition will also tour London, Berlin, Madrid, Dakar and Delhi.
The theme for entries is how the world’s youth is governed and how young people view the state of the world. Choose between their different briefs and enter up to three photos. Categories include; what upsets you? What could you do about it? Who listens to you? Who do you look up to? Who rules? Where are they? Use the power of photography to capture your vision of the world. There are also prizes for the most humorous photos. Entries must be received by 20 July.

Pledge to see Black Gold
Made by British filmmakers Nick and Mark Francis, Black Gold looks at the contrast between the enormous power and wealth of the mighty multinational coffee companies and the millions of coffee farmers and producers who are struggling to make a living. The film follows Tadesse Meskela, the General Manager of the Oromia Coffee Farmers Co-operative Union in Ethiopia, as he travels to London and Seattle meeting coffee buyers and trying to negotiate a better price for his farmers.
Help spread the word by pledging to see the film. If more people sign up to see the movie, then more screenings will be shown across the country, meaning thousands more people will get to watch it.
