Happy Xmas from Generation Why!

Just wanted to say a very merry badger-Xmas from Generation Why. It's all a bit foggy in our neck of the woods, but we're still full of festive cheer. We've been looking through your fab poems and ditties for our competition to win a stack of fair trade chocolate, and there are some Christmas crackers in there... Here are some of the best we've had so far to get you in the festive mood:

Emma Clarke
(To be sung to the tune of JINGLE BELLS)

Clothes and books,
Household goods,
Oxfam has them all.
So much to see, so much to browse
You will have a ball – HEY!

Clothes and books,
Household goods,
And much more behind the doors.
Plus every penny that you spend
Will help out a great cause – HEY!

Dashing through the streets
Christmas shopping all the way
To Oxfam we must go
Helping Santa fill his sleigh.

Sales on a cash desk ring
Making spirits bright
Oh what joy it is to know
We’re a part of the poverty fight!

Oh! Clothes and books,
Household goods,
You’ll be spoilt for choice
Please campaign against poverty
Stand up, let’s hear your voice – HEY!

Clothes and books,
Household goods,
Make Christmas full of cheer
For all the people around the world
Who struggle year on year!

Alaina Tolhurst
Ditch the hell of wonky trolley,
Oxfam shops are always jolly.
With friendly staff yule have a ball,
and prices there just sleigh 'em all.
So bring your purse, leave scrooge at home,
an Oxfam's never far to roam.
Help yourself and others too,
and Christmas wishes will come true!

Sandie Carson
Hark the Herald Angels Sing
Glory to Oxfam shopping!

Sally McLeod
Try Oxfam shopping this Christmas time,
Far better pressies than jumpers and wine.
Buy the gifts your friends would chose,
Help others too, nothing to lose.
Oxfam shops have pressies galore,
Chocs and novelties and much, much more!

Louise Cooper
Oxfam goodies leave no bad after-taste.
(Just ignore the inches they add to your waist!)
Indulge yourself & your loved ones too
And while you're enjoying, you help others too!

Claire Jones
Retro clothing, Fair Trade galore:
chocolate, coffee, tea and more.
Music, jewels, trinkets and books,
search in every cranny and nook!
You're sure to find a gift that's nice
and with Oxfam you're giving twice.

Mary McIntosh
I always shop at Oxfam,
It’s the coolest place to go.
It’s the shop that helps people,
And offers shelter from the 'snow'.

I always shop at Oxfam,
I'm vegan, and you see,
They sell these awesome cookies,
Fairtrade and dairy free.

I always shop at Oxfam,
The last time that I went,
I bought a bright red top
With white spots - its heaven sent.

So you see...
You should always shop at Oxfam,
It’s got everything you need.
And because it’s for a charity,
Everything there is guilt free.

Daniel Willis
Need ideas for gifts for your gran?
Well, listen here, I've got a plan
With loads of stuff that's Fair Trade
(so the workers get paid!)
Do your Christmas shopping at Oxfam!

Sally Sonnex
The first Christmas I can really gloat
I've bought my presents without wearing my coat
In one afternoon I managed to choose
The perfect things, I just can't lose
Oxfam Unwrapped you get my vote
(In case you're wondering, I bought a goat)

Ann Ryan
The Oxfam catalogue should not be missed,
It always tops my Christmas list.
With "stable" prices and trade thats fair,
The spirit of Christmas you can share.
Even Santa does his "stocking up" here,
For Christmas presents that last all year.

Sean Matthews
If ya wanna do some shoppin
Then ya betta get hoppin
You know the shop to go
Is OXFAM ho ho ho
