Gathering massive public support for the treaty. In the past year we have collected over 200,000 sign-ups for our Million Faces Petition.

Persuading a number of key countries to support the treaty. In 2003 there were no national governments on board, now we have Brazil, Kenya, Finland, and Spain among others.

Involving groups in over 70 countries in our campaign. The Control Arms campaign and logo has been used all over the world, from Germany to Guyana.

The Control Arms campaign scored a major success when Foreign Secretary Jack Straw announced to the Labour Party conference that he supported an Arms Trade Treaty. Oxfam’s Control Arms campaign manager said: “This is a really exciting development for the campaign. The UK is the world’s second largest exporter of arms, and it’s support for an Arms Trade Treaty brings it much closer to actually happening.”
