Scissor Sisters
Thought you might like to see this incredible lighting. The Scissor Sisters were certainly wanting the crowd to feel the love last night, so they told us, y'all.
It has been a great day at V and a fantastic day for the Make Trade Fair campaign. Athlete on the main stage and The Ordinary Boys on stage 2 have both just done massive shout outs for the campaign. We'll keep you up to date with all of the antics right here on the blog.
"We're goin' to the chapel and we're goin' to get married!" Hang on a second, no we're not, we're going to the Oxfam tent. Congratulations to Tim (the blushing bride) and to Jonathon (the proud groom). They were so keen on the tent they decided to spend the happiest day of their lives here. I guess that's a compliment about what we're doing!
We have been getting some great feeback. Alex Whitmore thought our ethical t-shirts were just excellent. A couple from Chelmsford were pleased as punch with the tent because "there was nothing like this last year, well done Oxfam!"
What is more the grand total of sign-ups after shift one? Wait for it...2,069!
The doors opened to V and the festival goers flocked to the Oxfam tent. Things were hectic as we explained Make Trade Fair to punters and sorted them out with pants, t-shirts and tatoos. A great start to the day.
This is the biggest presence Oxfam has ever had at V. Our aims for the weekend are 5,000 sign ups for Make Trade Fair and to get loads of people involved with Oxfam. The sun is shining and the vibe is enthusiastic. Even Chris's health and safety notices did not quite kill the atmosphere. The campaigners feel passionate about what they are doing. Off they go...
After a few days hard work we are nearly there. Our campaigners are starting to arrive which is great. Especially because we and can rope them in to help us with some finishing touches - sewing to be precise. Just can't wait for the people to roll on in.....
Power has also arrived and we can now finally let you know what we are up to! With the lovely camper van in tow we arrived at the V festival Stafford on Tuesday night. It has been hard work ever since - un-loading, putting banners up, sorting t-shirts, even a little upholstery work. It will all be worth it on Saturday though when the crowds just can't get enough of Oxfam. Feel free to leave us some ideas about decorating...
Well, our hard-working team sped up the motorway in the campervan last night, and are setting our brilliant campaign stall up as we speak. What's more, all the important people are talking about us: efestivals.co.uk have put a plug in, and we get a mention on virtualfestivals.com too. Find out more about what we're doing at V here and keep up-to-date with all things V-shaped on this here blog - we'll have great pics, reviews and updates on the Make Trade Fair campaign. While you're at it, have a look at our CD giveaway - we've got copies of the new album from Leaves (playing at V this weekend) to give to you lucky people. Oh, we spoil you, don't we?
