Oxfam's summer tour: festivals review 2006

The Glade

Making trade fair seemed easy at this sun-kissed, blissed-out festival - you all loved trying on wacky things with our trading volunteers and over 3,000 new supporters signed the Big Noise petition.

If you got tired of the psy-trance, drum and bass, techno, breakbeat, hip-hop, reggae etc etc etc, there were loads of other crazy and quirky ways to amuse yourself at Glade.

From getting married at the inflatable church (with a wedding dress from the Oxfam Stall!) to watching the circus, or from dancing the can-can in the Pussy Parlour to lounging out of the sun in a hammock in the amazing Spiral Zone - it was an amazing weekend.

Everyone partied hard, around 500 stewards made sure you didn't get lost and the whole thing just made us long for Glasto 2007 even more than we did before...

how was it for you?
Braaap Braap - I've had an amazing summer working backstage at festivals and meeting loads of bands an ting. I know, it's selfless, but I'm just doing my bit! My favourite festival was the Glade, it had a proper festival feel to it compared with all a dem bigger commercial festivals and just felt different an ting. My other highlights included watching the Raconteurs from the stage at Leeds thanks to a very nice man and meeting Lily Allen at T - she's hella lush! Easy now.

We were there, talking climate change, selling wedding dresses and stewarding our socks off.

angry about poverty?
how angry are you about poverty?
All summer we were taking photos of festival-goers pulling angry faces - all to show how angry people at festivals are about poverty. We've got a gallery of nearly 700 terrifying faces - the best one as judged by us will win a year's worth of top CDs courtesy of Universal Music.
