Carling Weekend - Reading/Leeds

Roots Manuva @ Reading
Amy and Diane approached him back stage. They told him about the campaign and he was immediately interested. He agreed to do a shout out. His set was brilliant. About 5 minutes into it he looked at the white band on his wrist and obviously remembered what he had promised to do. He said stuff about Make Trade Fair and MPH between about 5 different songs. The first time he said: "this make poverty history stuff, this is BIG STUFF. We gotta do something about it. We gotta make poverty history. We gotta make trade fair."

Later he split the crowd in half and made them chant hope and quest - he said "we're on a quest a quest for the hope to make trade fair, we're doing this for fair trade." He explained that, "Fair Trade is simple. It's about sharing what you got."
