Back to school!

What makes Wychwood Festival so special, apart from the music, the lush weather, the gorgeous location, and the people, are undoubtedly the workshops. Our workshop today was at 10am - not the best time, as most people were still having breakfast! But we made the most of it - we transferred from inside the dark and dingy tent to outside in the lovely sunshine. Caroline and Elkie, 2 of our volunteers here this weekend, ran a very informative session on how to bring about change through campaigning, with a focus on the Control Arms campaign. It went down really well - we're on again tomorrow at 4pm, so we're hoping for a bumper crowd then!

Campaigning at Wychwood

It's another beautifully sunny day here in Cheltenham, and the equally beautiful team of volunteers are raising awareness of the Control Arms campaign around the Festival site. Here's Chris and Caroline 'working the crowds'! It's the first time that Chris has volunteered for Oxfam - he's well chuffed with his free ticket to Wychwood.

We're here - and the sun is shining!

We've arrived, we're all set up, and the team of volunteers are out and about right now, raising awareness of the Control Arms campaign. But the best thing...the sun is out! It's absolutely glorious here - the perfect weather for a festival, nestled in the hills surrounding Cheltenham - it really is beautiful. Punters are about to be let in - here's a shot of the main stage looking all lonely...but check out the scenery behind!

We're off to campaign at Wychwood...

...the wonderful Wychwood in Cheltenham! In case you haven't heard, this weekend is our first festival of the summer so we're busy packing our bags and crossing our fingers for sunshine.

After its extremely successful launch in 2005, that raised £4,000 for Oxfam, Wychwood is back at Cheltenham Racecourse - which this year plays host to a solar-powered cinema and much anticipated performances from Mr Scruff, The Feeling (pictured), the Guillemots and Martha Wainwright, to name but a few.

Our trusty stewards will be there to direct you through the mud and we'll be selling Fairtrade goodies in our tent and raising awareness of our Control Arms campaign. We'll also be running fun workshops for all ages about our campaigns and how we use them to bring about change. If you're going, these are in the Oxfam tent on Saturday 10-11am and Sunday 4-5pm.

Tickets for the festival are still on sale and prices range from £20 to £85 depending on the usuals (length of stay, age). So if you were wondering what to do with the first weekend in June, now you know!

Keep your eyes on this blog for pics and updates from Wychwood and all this year's festivals...
