T-riffic

Hello from T in the Park!

Oxfam arrived safely at Balado near Kinross late last night, after a cracking drive (loved the Lake District!). The site here is HUGE! There's so much going on, and the festival hasn't even started yet. With a line-up to write home about, it's going to be a weekend and a half. And once again, Oxfam is right in the thick of it - our marquee is nestled cosily between the Main Stage and the Radio 1/NME stage...yes please!

We've been busy setting up our brand new (and very, VERY big) exhibition today. It's fair to say I'm no DIY wizard, so an over-sized Meccano set proved quite a challenge. But it's up now, and looking absolutely fantastic. The exhibition shows people what they can do to help end poverty...and features Dave Grohl's pants! It's the first time we've got it out in public, so we're very excited to hear and see people's reactions to it. Check back here over the weekend for photos and news!

Get this...the sun's come out! Yep, as I'm writing this, at 9pm on Friday night, a few cheeky rays are just peeking their noses out from behind the clouds. Good old Scotland!

Right, I'm off to check out the other Oxfam tent in the campsite 24hr village, which is selling the usual mix of wierd hats, fancy dress and knitted blankets. There's kilts for a fiver too, although apparently they've been selling like hot cakes and there's not many left - och Donald, where's me troosers? (Sorry, couldn't resist!).

Have fun everyone, and see you tomorrow for more news and photos from T.

Cornbury Festival: one-of-a-kind

As well as poptastic fun in Scotland, we're also gearing up for eccentric fun in the Oxfordshire countryside this weekend at Cornbury Festival. The event has a close relationship with Oxfam stewards - so regular Cornbury fans will be used to seeing our orange tabbards around the place. As for our campaigners, we're Cornbury first-timers and we're hoping it lives up to its name as a dynamic and irresistible musical carnival.

This year features an eclectic mix of entertainment from circus performers, a fairground and hot air balloon flights, but we're especially looking forward to the one-of-a-kind farmers market with a dance floor! Music will come from the likes of Texas, Robert Plant, The Pretenders and new talent Narina Pallot - so no one can accuse Cornbury of being short of a legend or two!

Amongst all the fun in the sun (we hope), is a serious message - Make Trade Fair. We'll be telling everyone about unfair trade rules which keep producers around the world in poverty, and how they can help by signing our Big Noise Petition.

Tickets for the festival are still available in various combinations (camping/no camping etc) and can be ordered online or by calling 0870 118 16 36 - under 10s go free so bring the family! If it's the sport that's keeping you away then think again because both the World Cup final and the play-off will be shown on screens at the festival - we'll see you there.

Keep your eyes peeled next week for lots of lovely photos from the festival.

Can't wait for T in the Park

Hey hey hey, the next festival on the magical Oxfam festival tour is T in the Park in Scotland this weekend. Despite all the rain and thunderstorms, we're so excited we might even forget about the World Cup. The line up is off-the-scale. How's this for a list of bands you've ALWAYS wanted to see (take a deep breath) : Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Placebo, The Strokes, The Magic Numbers, Paul Weller, Goldfrapp, Richard Ashcroft, Editors, Feeder, The Zutons, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Kooks, Maximo Park, The Charlatans, Primal Scream, The Go! Team, Damian Marley, Sigur Ros, Ben Harper, Jose Gonzalez, Zero 7 and so many more. Oh, and not forgetting bespectacled Scottish heroes The Proclaimers (see pic), of course.

Well, we've just packed up the van and waved off our campaigners for the long drive from Oxford to Balado, by Kinross. Like all the festivals this year, we'll be talking to T-goers about Oxfam's campaigns - this time we're focusing on Health and Education for All. We need world leaders to make sure that millions of poor people across the world get free access to healthcare and education. We'll be collecting signatures for a petition to put pressure on world leaders to do just that. You can act right now by sending an e-mail to tell Tony Blair to keep his promises.

We'll be sending pics and updates from T on this blog, so be sure to come back. You never know, we might even get to meet The Proclaimers (he he).
