Your Say writer Gareth Edward Jones meets Rekha Shenoy from Oxfam India at Oxfam Live, Southampton, 2006. ''It was really exciting to hear how farmers in her area were adopting organic crops to increase their profits.''

During Oxfam's nationwide tour - Oxfam Live – you’ll get the chance to find out exactly what it is Oxfam does and meet the people who help make it happen.

You sign the petitions, you know about poverty and suffering, you may have even done a bit of fundraising or volunteering, but do you ever wonder exactly how Oxfam works? Well, not being ones to keep you in the dark, Oxfam is going on tour to spread the word about its work around the world.

In a series of one-day events workers and volunteers from Oxfam will be touring the country in an effort to show exactly what the organisation does – how it responds to emergencies, works with communities worldwide, and how campaigning really can change lives.

There will be international speakers, campaign insights, skills workshops and much more. It’s not about boring school-type presentations - there are interactive sessions and workshops, including designing campaign stunts and working with the media. You’ll even get a chance to feedback directly to the Oxfam managers about issues you feel strongly about.

It’s a chance to have your views heard, and hear for yourself, about all the work that goes into the humongous mission to overcome poverty and suffering worldwide. And alongside that you’ll learn exactly how best to do your bit to help. It’s a definite date for the diary.
