International Youth Parliament

What is the International Youth Parliament (IYP)?

In July 2004, 300 young people aged 18-25 come together from over 120 countries, for a stimulating and colourful week in Sydney.

"Bagsy me the prime minister!"
"Bagsy me the prime minister!"

Each delegate came with an idea of a local project they wanted to implement in their country. During the week the delegates shared and developed their action plans, learning from and building links with each other.

On their return they will receive advice, training, and some of them grants, to help turn their plans into reality. And if the previous IYP is anything to go by, we can expect 70 per cent to be implemented in two years.

Sneak a look at the boss of GenerationWhy's IYP Diary. Including:

Day 2: "All countries (and our kilt!) got cheers and applause, but it was so moving to hear the hall go wild when the Iraqi delegation came on stage."

Day 7: "Now I have a bone to pick with 2 of our UK delegates, Omar and Peter. How could you walk off the dance floor during Rappers Delight?"
