This weekend across the UK Oxfam activists "grabbed" land where they lived. From big cities to country hillsides, nowhere was safe from the SOLD signs!
Campaigners were hoping to increase the public's understanding of the injustice of land grabs, where foreign companies buy up land in some of the world's poorest countries for profit while the people who live on the land are often evicted, losing their homes, livelihoods, and their way of growing food.
We asked some campaigners from Manchester what the weekend of action meant to them.
"Land Grabbing is such a shocking human rights violation we wanted to raise awareness," began Shehan Perera and Chris Ashworth of the Manchester Oxfam group.
"We grabbed some really iconic places in Manchester such as Granada Studios and the Christmas markets," continued Alice Higginson and Rosie Bernard from the Manchester University Oxfam group.
"Lots of people asked what we were doing, and we got moved from two sites ourselves as we were protesting! We had no chance to explain and it really made us sympathise with the situation of many people across the world losing their homes and fields with so little justification."
Huge thanks go out to everyone who took part in the weekend of action - click the pics below to see more of our fab activists! If you couldn't make it, you can still get involved - take action now and email your MP about land grabs.
