Oxfam in the North of England is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join their Constituency Campaigner Programme

Are you interested in international development?  Do you want to be a campaigner?

Oxfam in the North of England is recruiting Constituency Campaigners.  This is a volunteer programme open to anyone who shares our values and wants to make a positive difference in peoples' lives.

Our Constituency Campaigners help demonstrate public support for our issues by raising Oxfam's concerns with politicians in their area.  Oxfam offers you the training, resources and support that you need.  All we require is enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to campaigning on issues that directly impact on people living in poverty.

Land rights, sustainable food and tax dodging are just some of the issues Oxfam campaigns on.  Right now our priority is calling for a peaceful resolution to the Syrian crisis.

Ali and Carmel with Vince Cable

Constituency Campaigners write to their MP, meet with their MP and do a lot more besides. Last month Constituency Campaigners Carmel Ganner and Ali Sameer talked to the Rt Hon Vince Cable and other Liberal Democrat MPs at the Social Liberal Forum in Manchester about our Love Syria campaign.

Lily Tomson gave a radio interview to BBC Sheffield when Oxfam groups auctioned off city landmarks  to raise awareness of land grabs.  When Frances Howell lobbied her MP on landgrabs she was lucky enough to get an invite to Parliament for the day.

David and Eamon

Last year we campaigned on the Robin Hood Tax at the Labour Party Conference.   David Llewellyn and Eamon Rooke handed out copies of Not The Financial Times which got a serious message across in a lighthearted way.

At Oxfam we don't wait for others to make change happen - we make it happen, every day, in over 100 countries around the world.  Local grassroots activism is at the heart of that change.  As a Constituency Campaigner we can offer you the opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience in influencing politicians.

Find out more here or contact Diane Porter on 0161 2342792 or at dporter@oxfam.org.uk.  To apply go to www.oxfam.org.uk/ccp

Interviews will be by telephone.

Successful applicants will be required to attend a day of induction training on Saturday the 19 October in Manchester.
