Are you a passionate individual who wants to make a difference for a worthy cause? The Oxfam Midlands Get Together Internship needs someone like you to get your community involved in organising events to raise money and awareness for Women's Equality this International Women's Day.
Oxfam Midlands are looking for a passionate individual who wants to inspire those in the community to organise events to raise money for women's equality on International Women's Day next year. This is a hands on role where the Get Together Intern will be responsible for approaching groups and individuals across the Midlands and making them aware of the social injustices that women in poverty face. It is then their responsibility to advise, motivate and support these individuals and groups to organise their own events to raise money and awareness in their community.
These events could be anything, large or small, as creative as they like, ranging from things such as cake sales to boat races, cocktail parties to theme days at work. It will be the Get Together Interns role to make sure these events are a success, the volunteers feel valued and the message gets out effectively. Good people management and interpersonal skills are key to this role, including the ability use your initiative and motivate others into supporting this crucial cause.
The majority of people in poverty are female, and this is usually due to lack of equal rights and opportunities. However, Oxfam's vision is that many more women, around the world, will gain power over their lives and live free from violence and gender-based inequalities. Through changes in attitudes, ideas and beliefs as well as financial support to kick start grassroots projects, we know we can make a real change, especially with a Get Together Intern's support.
So if you think you have what it takes to get people proactive about this cause then we want to hear from you.
