Behind the Brands

680x150

Approximately one in eight people go to bed hungry every night, while the 10 biggest food companies together generate sales of more than $1 billion a day. These companies have immense power but are failing to use it to help build a world where everyone has enough to eat.

At Oxfam, we've spent the past 18 months looking at how the world's biggest food firms do business. The bottom line is they all need to do much better. You can help to transform the way these global giants treat people and the planet.

Using the results, we've created a simple Behind the Brands Scorecard to compare and contrast how the companies perform. Click on the link below to see how the companies behind your favourite brands fare and how you can push them to change for the better.

This year we have a real opportunity for change. In June the UK will host the G8 summit, a meeting of leaders from some of the world's richest nations. Oxfam has joined more than 100 other organisations as part of the Enough Food for Everyone IF campaign calling on world leaders to take action to ensure everyone has enough food to eat.

The IF campaign aims to force governments and big corporations to be honest and open about their actions that stop people getting enough food. With enough people behind the campaign, we can make world leaders listen and do what needs to be done.
