ESSENTIAL READING #2 - SHIFT PARTNERS

We offer the opportunity for you to list shift partners during your application, to enable you to steward and coordinate your time off with friends. When we arrange shifts, we try to make sure you are on at the same times as your shift partners, but please be aware we can't guarantee your duties will be in the same location on site. It's not compulsory to add shift partners - if you don't have any don't worry, you will meet lots of lovely people anyway!

This year there are some new rules about how this works, so please make sure you've read and understood them properly. Returning (priority) stewards should not assume they can do what they normally do - it won't work!

This year you can add up to 5 shift partners, to create a shift partner group of maximum 6 people, including yourself.

All members of the group must enter all the other members' full names and dates of birth on their application form for the group to be matched. If anyone leaves anyone's details out on the application form, the whole group will not be matched on our system and you will not be rostered together.

You will need to enter each of your shift partners' details exactly as their names will be entered on their application form. When planning your group, please make sure nobody adds nicknames, you all use the same spellings of each other's names and the correct dates of birth - don't guess anything on the day or your friends won't be happy with you!

For example, if your shift partner has applied as 'Joe Bloggs', our system will not create a match if you add 'Joseph Bloggs' as your shift partner. Please also ensure sure you enter dates of birth in this format: DD/MM/YYYY.

For operational reasons, we cannot accept shift partner groups larger than 6 but a group can be as little as 2 people. The same applies - you must both put each other's name and date of birth on the application form to be matched up. You do not need to all apply on the same day, so priority stewards can be matched with new stewards, but you do need to all apply for the same festival and list each other's correct details. Shift partner groups are per festival, so you will need to enter all your shift partner details on each festival application you make - as will all your shift partners.

Please be aware that if one member of your group decides not to apply, or does not get a place because a festival fills up, and the rest of the shift partner group have added that person, the whole group will not be matched and you will not be rostered together. If that happens, contact us and we can match your group together afterwards. If you are not sure if someone is going to apply to steward, leave them out of the group for now - you can contact us up until the cancellation deadline to add them in (as long it does not exceed 6 members) email stewards@oxfam.org.uk.

However, if a member of your shift partner groups cancels their place at the festival, or decides to leave the shift partner group after you have all applied and been matched, the rest of the shift partner group will still be matched.

If you are stewarding, we're sorry but it is not possible for a campaigner or shop volunteer to be linked as your shift partner since their shifts operate on different timetables to ours.

We hope this all makes sense and that the new system will help ensure there's less shift confusion on site at festivals!
