Stewarding Logistics in 2014
Lorraine Patch Stewarding Team Logistics Intern
15th May 2014
2014 Logistics Co-ordinator role now open for applications!
We are pleased to announce that we are now recruiting for our volunteer Logistics Co-ordinators across the 2014 festival season. If you love festivals, are well organised, have a full clean driving licence and want to learn more about what happens behind the scenes at the biggest UK music events, this is for you.
Logistics is an exciting aspect of the Oxfam Stewarding operation. It is in its third year and is designed to help streamline the way we run our events, cutting down on costs, improving safety / training and enabling us to be much more effective in how we operate on site at festivals. We're looking forward to seeing another set of great Logistics Teams in action in 2014!
We are currently recruiting teams for the following festivals:
Please note you can apply for more than one festival.
The role is primarily to lead the set-up and breakdown of the Oxfam Stewarding operation on a festival by festival basis. The role will normally involve driving to the site on the Monday or Tuesday before the festival and returning the Monday after the festival is over.
Before the festival:
Starting and finishing in Bristol, in teams of 2, you will load the van from our logistics hub, drive the van to the festival, set up our field, the Oxbox (our Oxfam office on site) in conjunction with the Oxfam Festival Co-ordinator and ensure it is ready for the stewards to arrive. You will then sign over to the Festival Co-ordinator and have the main festival days free to relax!
After the festival:
You stay until after the last volunteer shift, break down the operation, audit the stock and return the safely loaded van back to our logistics hub in Bristol, in preparation for the next festival.
Skills and experience
We are looking for individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills as you will be liaising with key onsite representatives as well as Oxfam stewards and staff. You will be well organised with great attention to detail; able to keep calm under pressure and use your initiative to problem solve. You should have manual handling experience or be willing to learn about this throughout the training provided. You will need to have a clean driving licence and ideally you will also have previous
experience of volunteering with Oxfam Stewards.
What the role can offer
This is a unique opportunity to learn first hand about the logistics of the stewarding function at festivals, as well as becoming an integral part of the exciting Oxfam Festival Stewarding team. You will receive full training, including manual handling and driver training, and the role offers good development opportunities within the festival events sector. As the logistics team all your hard work is done before and after the festival, leaving the rest of the time free for you to enjoy the festival. And
as if all this weren't enough, you will be helping us raise money that makes a real difference to the lives of people living in poverty worldwide.
Think you have what it takes?
Please read the full role description for more information on what is required and how to apply.
Please note this role is voluntary, but appropriate expenses will be paid for costs incurred during your assignment days.
