Human Resources Assistant Intern

Context:

Corporate HR is a busy department which looks after the HR needs of staff worldwide. There are several teams within the department, such as Operational HR, Pay and Benefits, Learning and Development, HR Policy, HR Systems, Recruitment & Resourcing. We are looking for a volunteer to work with the HR team dealing with Policy and Recruitment & Resourcing, but also with other teams, according to need and individual interest.

Frequency: Minimum of 20 hours per week, days and times are flexible (within office hours).

Duration: 4-6 months.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing Oxfam Jobs' social media presence on Twitter and Linked-In.
  • Carrying out research tasks using the internet and liaison with other divisional HR teams, e.g. changes to employee benefits, HR policy reviews, writing guidelines for managers.
  • Working closely with teams in human resources, for example on recruitment/resourcing queries; preparation of contracts; advertising vacancies.
  • Other project work as required. Eg
    • Analysis of staff surveys (pay, workplace nursery)
    • Updating staff handbooks, induction guides.
    • General administrative support to the HR policy team and the wider Corporate HR team.

Skills and competencies:

  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills.
  • Confident in use of Microsoft Office and internet.
  • Sound administrative skills including good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and to support others in their work.
  • Ability to deal professionally with highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Interest in Human Resources is essential, but experience in HR would be an advantage.
  • Interest in and willingness to learn about social media concepts.
  • French, Spanish or Portuguese language skills an advantage but not essential.
