Context:
These internships are a great opportunity for someone looking to move into fundraising as a career. Oxfam is looking for enthusiastic individuals to help support and grow fundraising activity in their area. As an integral member of the fundraising team, you will have a varied role - including anything from supporting our existing fundraisers to researching and pursuing new fundraising opportunities in the region. You will gain invaluable experience working with volunteers, groups and organisations. You will work closely with the Regional Community Fundraising Manager whilst also
taking the lead on projects.
3 days per week (Mon-Fri - flexible); but there will be some work in the evenings and at weekends, for 6 months.
Internships available in Mytholmroyd and Manchester.
Key responsibilities:
You will have a crucial role in raising funds to support Oxfam's life changing work. Your role will involve:
- Supporting the Regional Community Fundraising Manager in the promotion of Oxfam's portfolio of fundraising events. Coordinating local fundraising during emergencies appeals including; motivating supporters to take action and supporting them in their fundraising.
- Recruitment of new Oxfam fundraising groups and support of our existing network of fundraising groups. This may involve the organisation of recruitment events.
- Managing relationships with key individuals whilst supporting them in their fundraising activities.
- Researching and developing new fundraising opportunities. This will involve approaching established businesses, community groups, schools and universities to motivate them to fundraise for Oxfam.
- Administrative tasks including updating Oxfam's supporter database and banking and recording income.
Skills and competencies:
- Knowledge of MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
- Project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Past experience in fundraising is desirable.
- Presentation and sales skills are desirable.
