Fashion Events Intern

Context:

Oxfam Fashion has a presence at festivals and fashion events in order to change public perceptions of Oxfam shops - by giving the public a great experience of Oxfam in a different fashion context.

This role will be to support the Digital & Events Marketing Coordinator at festivals and fashion events working within multiple project teams to plan and coordinate upcoming national events. The role will be to assist shop teams marketing activity at events, digital content and fashion related activities.

 

In order to share the activity at these events with a wider audience we capture content to share online, through our Fashion webpages, blog and social networking sites. This role will be responsible for ensuring this content is planned, collected, well written and uploaded (either personally or internally briefed)

 

To support Oxfam shops teams planning regional events and developing event packs/best practice guidelines for them to use.

(May suit a fashion/marketing student looking for a 6 months work placement)

Frequency: 3 days per week/weekends at festivals.

Duration: 6 months from May until October.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Planning: Work with the Digital & Events Marketing Coordinator to plan Oxfam's fashion presence at events and festivals. Assisting Oxfam shop teams to collate requirements and best practice, developing guidelines and planning documents for local pop-ups and events.
  • Blogging and digital activity: Working on site at festivals and events to collate content for the Oxfam fashion blog and social media channels to amplify our presence at events.
  • Communication: Building and maintaining personal relationships with Oxfam shop teams and the PR team and regional PR to support individual event needs.
  • Briefing creatives: provide briefs to the inhouse design team for resource & information packs and marketing materials to support local events.
  • Marketing: Support shop teams to maximise publicity and PR and online opportunities for local events.
  • Evaluation: Ongoing evaluation of event success against the marketing objectives.

Skills and competencies:

  • Strong written and verbal communications: produces clear written communications; creates strong project briefs, maintains good project records and effectively communicates progress to the project team.
  • Experience of managing/assisting on event projects, critical path timelines and working to tight deadlines.
  • A passion for vintage clothing and fashion trends is essential.
  • Previous marketing experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding and experience of Oxfam's shops and an interest in Oxfam's work.

  • Fashion event planning experience (including national music festivals, fashion shows and vintage events)
  • In depth understanding of charity/ethical retailing.
  • Experience working in a busy Marketing team for a major UK brand, building contacts within the fashion industry.
  • Access to high profile fashion events and music festivals.
  • 1:1 support/mentoring from Marketing Events Coordinator.
  • Flexible working patterns including working presence at potentially Royal Windsor Horse Show, Isle of Wight, Latitude, Glastonbury, WOMAD, Leeds and Bestival.
  • Lunch & local travel expenses and on site/travel expenses at music festivals in line with Oxfam's volunteering guidelines.
