Fundraising Support Assistant (Central England)

Context:

This internship is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to move into fundraising and volunteer management as a career.

Based in our friendly Birmingham office, you'll work with Jenna and Ron, our Regional Fundraising Managers to help grow fundraising for Oxfam in Central England. Depending on your location, it is possible to work from home as well. 

As an integral part of our fundraising team, every single day will be different - and that's a promise! Whether you're interviewing potential new volunteers, devising creative ideas to recruit new fundraising groups or helping out at one of our fantastic fundraising events, you'll be making a big difference.

This opportunity is ideal for anyone with a passion to make a difference. Not only will you meet our wonderful, inspirational volunteers in the Midlands, but also you'll receive great support and mentoring from a close knit team.

 

Frequency: 3 days per week (Mon-Fri - flexible), with occasional evening and weekend events. We ask for a commitment of  5 months.

Key responsibilities:

You will have a crucial role in raising funds to support Oxfam's life changing work. Your role will involve:

  • Supporting Jenna and Ron to promote Oxfam fundraising events, ranging from gala dinners to Mad Hatter Tea Parties!
  • Coordinating fundraising in Birmingham, Leicester, Coventry, Nottingham and Wolverhampton during emergency appeals.
  • Recruitment of new Oxfam fundraising groups and support of our existing network of eight wonderful fundraising groups. 
  • Working with Loughborough Rag to support them with their exciting Escape and Evade Event.
  • Researching and developing new fundraising opportunities. This will involve approaching established businesses, community groups and universities to motivate them to fundraise for Oxfam.
  • Administrative tasks including updating Oxfam's supporter database and banking and recording income.

Skills and competencies:

  • Knowledge of MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Past experience in fundraising is desirable.
  • Presentation and Sales skills are desirable.
