Bookshop Volunteer Assistant (Balham)

Context:

We're looking for volunteers to staff our lovely bookshop in Balham. Volunteering with us can give you the opportunity to build retail skills and help raise money for those less fortunate. We're looking for reliable, enthusiastic individuals to help with customer service, pricing books and general shop-work. For more information visit our blog.

A minimum of four hours per week either 10am -2pm or 2pm - 6pm

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Serving customers on the till accurately and in a friendly manner
  • Tidying/re-stocking/merchandising the shop as required
  • Accepting donated items
  • Answering queries about Oxfam and products offered for sale
  • Pricing donated books and vinyl
  • Selling books online

Skills and competencies:

 No retail experience is required. We're looking for people who are:

  • Friendly and helpful
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Confident with basic cash-handling and customer service
  • Able to commit to covering a regular shift
