Fundraising Group Secretary (Various Locations)

Context:

Oxfam's Fundraising Groups are teams of volunteers who work together to raise vital funds for Oxfam's work to alleviate poverty and suffering worldwide. Fundraising activities can be anything and everything - from duck races to treasure hunts, boat trips to music events.

 

The group secretary role is a vital part of the fundraising team. As secretary you will be responsible for keeping everyone informed of group activities, coordinating agendas and taking minutes at meetings, and helping the group to communicate effectively with the wider community.

 

Throughout your role, the Oxfam regional team will be on hand to offer help and advice every step of the way!

Frequency: Flexible, 2 - 4 hours per week, at times to suit you!

Locations: Malmesbury, Cirencester, Taunton.

Key responsibilities:

  • You will have a vital role in raising funds to support the work of Oxfam in alleviating poverty and suffering worldwide - importantly whilst having fun!
  • Organise meetings for the group - including venue if necessary
  • Work with leader to prepare agenda and keep note of apologies
  • Send reminders to the group about meeting dates and times
  • Take notes of all actions and key points from each meeting and circulate to all members post-meeting
  • Read the notes from the previous meeting to the group
  • Read, reply and file correspondence to the group
  • Keep contact lists of group members up to date, and maintaining mailing lists of group supporters/volunteers.
  • Organising and promoting fundraising events and collections with other group members

Skills and competencies:

  • Lots and lots of enthusiasm!
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to ask people to get involved.
  • Organization skills.
