Fundraising Group Treasurer (Various Locations)

Context:

Oxfam's Fundraising Groups are teams of volunteers who work together to raise vital funds for Oxfam's work to alleviate poverty and suffering worldwide.

 

Fundraising group activities can be anything and everything - from duck races to gala dinners, sponsored walks to music events.

 

The role of treasurer is essential to the smooth running of the group.  You will be responsible for overseeing the management of group finances.  You will also be responsible for keeping the group informed of how much money is raised through your various activities.

 

Throughout your role, the Oxfam regional team will be on hand to offer help and advice every step of the way- all we ask for is lots of enthusiasm! 

Frequency: Flexible, 2 - 4 hours per week, at times to suit you!

Locations: Malmesbury, Cirencester, Taunton.

Key responsibilities:

  • You will have a vital role in raising funds to support the work of Oxfam in alleviating poverty and suffering worldwide - importantly whilst having fun!
  • Manage the group finances in accordance with Oxfam guidelines
  • Receive and bank all money collected by, and given to, the group keeping a permanent record of all money received and spent
  • Issue receipts for all monies received
  • Attend or send a financial status report to Group meetings and answer any queries about Group finances
  • Organising and promoting fundraising events and collections with other group members.

Skills and competencies:

  •  Lots and lots of enthusiasm!
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to ask people to get involved .
  • You will have experience of cash handling, keeping accounts up to date and be competent in dispersing financial information to other group members.
