Community and Groups Coordinator (Glasgow)

Context:

Oxfam Scotland's Campaigns Team works with a wide range of organisations and individuals to promote global justice. Volunteers play a key role in the team, helping deliver campaign activities on areas including economic justice and health and education.  Oxfam works through a network of local campaign groups to engage local communities and strengthen local engagement with Oxfam campaigns.  The primary aim of this role is to strengthen the group network. 

Frequency: Up to 8 hours per week, flexible. For 6 months with possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working with campaign groups to inspire local Oxfam campaigning activities
  • This includes providing regular updates to group leaders and peer support to recently started groups
  • Researching local networking opportunities with community groups
  • Support outreach events across Scotland to increase local networking and recruitment new volunteers
  • Networking (work together) with other organisations/volunteer groups that work in similar areas - to run joint events and work together when appropriate

Skills and competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outgoing people person, good at managing relationships, team working and networking with external organisations.
  • Practical campaigning ability.
  • Commitment to Oxfam's values and purpose.
  • Knowledge of Oxfam's campaigning issues an advantage.
