Books Volunteer (Manchester)

Context:

We are a very busy and thriving Oxfam in Manchester city centre. We are looking for someone who can volunteer to help out  in our popular book department for a minimum of 4 hours a week on either a Mon/Tues /Thurs Fri or Sat.

Frequency: Minimum 4 hours a week between either 10am- 2pm or 2pm-6pm Monday to Saturday or 12pm-5pm on a Sunday.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working within Oxfam's book retail standards
  • Sorting through and identifying stock appropriate for sale
  • Pricing stock
  • Merchandising stock
  • Culling and replenishing stock
  • Researching and pricing books online
  • Working within a team

Skills and competencies:

  • An interest in books and reading
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Enthusiasm and the willingness to learn
  • Work as part of a team
  • Proactive and able to work off own initiative as well as take instruction
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
