Community Fundraising Volunteer (Wolverhampton)

Context:

Is one of your New Year resolutions to do more for others, to help a charity? If so, then the perfect opportunity has arisen to get involved in your local community. Wolverhampton is setting up its first Oxfam fundraising group and needs your help. Whether your interests relate to sport, music, film, beauty, baking or art, there is an event that you can help organise to raise vital funds for Oxfam projects worldwide.

Flexible, 2 - 4 hours a week, times and days to suit you!

Key responsibilities:

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our new fundraising group, help organise events and raise awareness and money for some fantastic causes. We welcome anyone who has the enthusiasm and ideas to assist in organising events from murder mystery evenings or pamper parties to something smaller like a book sale - the choice is yours!

The volunteer group will meet fortnightly or monthly depending on members' preferences and time commitment can be anything you can give, from a few hours a month or more. Many Oxfam fundraisers are in full time employment and use their group as a way to have fun outside of work and as a means of connecting with people locally, having that sense of community as well as doing something worthwhile.

Skills and competencies:

You don't need to be an events organising expert - no previous experience in necessary. If you have the ideas and enthusiasm, the team of volunteers and Oxfam staff are here to help you make that idea into a reality. You will be provided with materials, resources, information and advice so you are never on your own.

What this role can offer the volunteer:

  • This is your chance to help change the world and make a real difference to people living in poverty and suffering worldwide
  • Have a voice in Oxfam and its work
  • Work as a member of your local group but also as part of the wider Oxfam community
  • Have fun and develop your skills with a team of inspiring people
  • The unique opportunity to develop existing skills, gain experience in fundraising and learn more about one of world's leading charities
  • Enhance your CV
  • Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed where agreed
