Oxfam goes to festivals to talk to thousands of people about our campaigns - you might have seen Oxfam volunteers campaigning at festivals like Glastonbury or Bestival. This role would be the coordination of those teams of volunteers to do similar things, but at a smaller event.
Your role as a Festival Campaigns Activity Coordinator will be to organise and deliver campaigning activities at a small festival. This will involve recruiting and coordinating a small group of volunteers and enabling them to take the message of our campaign out to the crowds.
The Oxfam Festival Campaigns Team will support you, making sure you have the resources and know-how to lead your team to engage festival-goers around the site. You will work alongside the Oxfam Festivals Campaigns Team at key points leading up to, during, and after the festival season as part of a nation-wide festivals campaigning programme - including a weekend-long training session and a one day debrief session. You will be leading Oxfam's campaign activity onsite at a smaller festival The Festivals team has chosen.
The activities you coordinate at the festival you attend will be linked to those led by the central Festivals Campaigns Team at the bigger festivals like Leeds, Latitude and Bestival as part of a summer-long campaigning season for Oxfam. You will also play a crucial role in the evaluation of the festival programme, and contribute to plans for 2014.
The possible festivals that the Campaigns Activity Coordinators will be going to this summer are:
- Towersey
- Ramsbottom
- Kendal Calling
- Truck
- Beatherder
This is not a comprehensive list and Oxfam's presence at these festivals will not be confirmed till a later date.
Frequency: 1 - 4 hours a week on average, with a much busier period surrounding the event, and onsite for up to 5 days (depending on festival), from March to October.
